I want to set up a computer laboratory using Server 2003 Std. I do not want
local profiles on the workstations, because I will end up with over 500 local
profiles! I want to log onto the domain, map a network drive, PER USER, with
rights (Pupil & Teacher), to individual folders on the server. Roaming
profiles will not do it - too slow. I have no need to copy the contents of
the profile from server to workstation each time a user logs on.

You can use a combination of folder redirection and roaming profiles (for
details, refer to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490855.aspx )
to minimize amount of data copied to the local machine and use "Delete
cached copies of roaming profiles" GPO setting for cleanup of their local
copies...
