DFSR hangs server

Hi,

here is my problem. I have dfsr replication between two R2 servers.
Replicated folder contains 50000 files. Changes are only made on first
member everytime. After initial replication setup everything was fine
for some time. But after few weeks I noticed that the second member
became so slow. And CPU usage on this server was very high. I started to
troubleshoot and found strange thing in backup client logs. I found that
there is almost one million files in Dfsprivate folder. And I think that
all these files are in conflictanddeleted folder. I tried to enter this
folder and after I did this - server completely hanged with high CPU
usage. I think this is because so huge ammount of files and dirs. My
question is - how can I correct this issue and how can I avoid it in the
future? How can I safely delete these folders? Thanks.

I don't believe this folder is critical to dfs-r, as it just contains your
conflicted files and deleted files.
So as long as you don't have anything you believe you need to restore from
this folder, how about just deleting it?
You probably just to use the command line to delete it.

cd <Drive>:\<folder>\dfsprivate\Conflictanddelete
rd /s /q .



Another method (probably safer), is to reduce the size of this folder.
Within the GUI, the size of the folder is by default 660mb.
If you have not increased that size, why not change it to 100mb. This should
purge the folder after some time.
