Hello,

if you are using server 2008 DFS replication to synchronize/mirror a file
share can you exclude certian files from being replicated? basically, I need
to replicate an entire file share except for one specific file, that
specific file actually needs to remain unique at each location and it should
not be overwritten.

I have not tested it yet but the answer appears to be 'yes', you can. There
is a 'filters' option in the properties of the replicated folder, within the
replication group, within the DFS management snapin, which gets added to
server manager after you install that role service.
