Event 5014 and 5004 every 5 minutes

We have three servers replicating, 2 finished initial replication and one is
in progress but appears stalled - ie count of moved files is not increasing.
On all servers we are getting repeated incidents of event 5014 and 5004 every
5 minutes. The events have always been present but I got two servers to line
out with them there - still I am concerend they may offer some clue to my
current issue. The servers are connected via a Sonicwall VPN cloud, all are
in different cities. Ping between the servers never times out, its
continuous. The server which will not complete is W2008 and I can see in the
network monitor that the DFSR service is using 1 Mbps on a continuous basis.

I've got these events repeating over and over again in our event log, connected by a SonicWALL Site to Site VPN cloud as well.

Some of the smaller folders replicate, but the larger folders with 70GB or so and several thousand files are having trouble completing replication.

One thing I did was increased the staging quota for each replicated folder to 16GB on the Branch (Source) Server. This helped a little bit but after 60 days initial replication has still not completed.

Wondering if anybody else knows what could be wrong?

I am assuming that you are using Win2k3 R2 SP2

Make sure you apply below mentioned fixes on all DFSR servers:
1).
948496 An update to turn off default SNP features is available for Windows
Server 2003-based and Small Business Server 2003-based computers

2). Latest DFSR.exe binaries (article title may not be your problem), you
may need to call MS PSS to get this:
948833 Distributed File System Replication may not replicate a folder on a
Windows Server 2003 R2-based computer if the folder was previously a member
of a replication group that was removed

Hi

I was getting the same problem on the replication partner, but the primar
member was OK. It turned out the the Switch port connecting the partner was
set to 100 Half and the partner server was set to 100 full.

Try hard setting the server NIC seed to a set speed of the switch
