I have an old NT 4.0 server with a number of shares, accessed thru icons on
peoples desks pointing to \\server01\name for example. Is there a way with
DFS to move those shares from \\server01\name to \\server05\name and have the
data live on 05, but be shared out as \\server01\name so that the data is
still available when \\server01 is decomissioned? The shares need to be
accessable as \\server01\name sothat I do not have to re-configure all of the
old desktops. Thanks in advance for any info.

Phil,
No.
The cheerful way round this is to use an alias name for server05. To do this
you need to allow aliases: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281308

Hi,

NT4 doesn't support DFS replications.
