We have two 2003 R2 server on different locations and we want to set up
DFS-R, we installed the R2 technology add-ons but no DFS-R is mentioned. How
can we determine if DFR-R is running en not DFS? Some issues about this tell
me that a shortcut is made in the Admistrator Tools and is called Distributed
File System and with DFS-R this is called Distubuted File System Management.
If this is true we use DFS and then it's the question how do we upgrade to
DFS-R.

best regards, and thanks for any tips.

Hello Patrick,
If you have W2K3 R2, then you are running DFS-R. One way to verify is to
look under services for both DFS Replication (DFSRs.exe) and DFS Namespace
(Dfs). If you only see Distributed File System (Dfs) then you are not
running DFS-R

After you installed DFSR from the CD did you go into ad remove programs -
Windows programs (I think it's under windows programs) and add the DFSR
service and tools?
