I currently have a DFS-N structure with some replication using DFS-R on
windows server 2003 R2. I would like to migrate my servers to 2008 Core
Enterprise edition. Is there anything I will need to be aware of in this
process, is core a bad idea? Any help/links greatly appreciated I have not
found a lot of documentation on this subject (file services) I am guessing
that not much has chaned since 2003 R2.

You are correct. When it comes to DFS, Windows 2008 was a BIG disappointment. Nothing new what so ever except for a few details.
