Hi,

I have the following setup, a head office with writable AD DS DC and my
branch offices have Read Only domain Controllers. I am planning on
implementing Ditributed File system accross the org as all DC's and file and
print Servers are windows 2008. I have a few questions,
1) Can I place my shares on all my RODC and use DFS to replicate these
shares to the head office? for DR purposes.
2) If I decide to place my shared name space and shares at the head office
and have them replicate to my branch offices RODC, what happens if the link
to the head office goes down? there is only one link from all branch to head
office. Will my shares still be available as my shared name space is not?
3) Can I place a shared name space on a RODC and will changes made to these
shares on the RODC get replicated to the head office?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Elvis

Elvis,
RODC facilitates bidirectional replication of custom DFS namespaces (unlike
SYSVOL, which is limited to inbound replication only). This would satisfy 1)
and 3). As far as 2) goes, you should be able to access the RODC-hosted DFS
replica if the connection to the head office becomes unavailable (assuming
that credential caching has been configured properly)...
