Found Member Servers with no connection objects (orphaned) :

Update on this. Now getting this instead after trying to remove the dfs
folders that seemed to be causing the issues:

ERROR: This server's "Member Ref" property of a DFS Volume is (null) --
this is NOT correct !!!
To fix this, use ADSIEdit and edit the "fRSMemberReference" Property of
the nTFRSSubscriber object guid under the "DFS Volumes" subscriptions object
located under this Server's Computer Object.
This value should match the FQDN of the nTFRSMember object for this Server
(for DFS volumes this will start with a GUID).
For more Info See KB Article : 312862 Recovering Missing FRS Objects and
FRS Attributes in Active Directory - Search for the step about Updating the
"fRSMemberReference" object (Step 8 on the "Recovering from Deleted FRS
Objects" section

Hi Simon

First I've to say, that the problem concerns the NTFRS service and not DFS.
I suppose that DFS works (because it always worked in all my scenarios) and
that NTFRS is the only problem (it's always the problem and the events also
point into that direction).
So, you should read this
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296183 . You have to
verify that every server has it's link to the replica sets it belongs to and
that every replica set has all links to every server that links to the set.
Use ADSIedit to do this... you can find ADSIedit on the Windows Server CD in
the folder support\tools -> use "setup.exe" for 2000 or "suptools.msi" for
2003.

I think the best way would be to try to recover the deleted items (they're
only tombstoned).
